Her husband was a technician of lathe machine. Forty years ago, he got problem with spinal cord, at that moment they had minor children. On his treatment they lost all their assets but he didn’t recover. Therefore, she was burdened with livelihood responsibilities. She learnt skill from her husband and started making iron chains. She sent her both sons to different professions as interns but due to bad behaviors of employers, got them engaged in her own production. This trade requires investment; she had been borrowing from moneylenders to run her business for many years.

She developed confidence and leadership skills with the passage of time. She comfortably deals with the suppliers, workforce and the buyers. Poverty of her family made her develop all characteristics that are needed to run a business like a man. She never spent a loan on domestic requirements rather she has been investing on her business. Credit from Asasah has become a

lifeline for her business. Since she didn’t fulfill the age limit requirement for loan, she convinced Asasah for lending. Asasah gave her first loan considering her a special case by relaxing its rules.

She has permanent buyers in Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Lahore markets; while she used to buy raw material (the scrap) from Lahore market.

She has faced a lot of social issues during her life. She has seen the times when people were reluctant to meet her. No one was ready to lend her money for her business. At that time she was running a small scale business at her home.

She managed to marry her first daughter with the support of relatives. Then her business enabled her to wed three daughters and two sons with her savings. Earlier she used to manufacture her products in the courtyard of her house, now she has taken a covered plot on rent for manufacturing while her courtyard is used to pile up scrap stock. She has recently bought a house in China Scheme Lahore, where she intends to shift her factory. Her sons and their wives are engaged in her business while their children attend schools. She helped one of her daughter and son in law in establishing separate business.

She has employed 5 craftsmen in her business on regular basis, while six women in neighborhood are engaged as home-based piece rate workers. Now women around her came to get business advice. She helped many in getting loan from Asasah for their businesses. She has been running her business successfully. Both of her sons are the part of her business. She has all machines that are required in production of iron chains. However, she plans to purchase an automatic machine that will allow her to produce light weight cosmetic chains. This will add up a product line in her business. Automatic machine will turn manufacturing easy and in less time. And she needs a loan of more than hundred thousand rupees.
